Design On A Dime

The most important aspect of any construction project is to have a good plan. Large or small, this is the best place to not skimp. I wish I had a dime for every client that had regrets in this area. Making things look aesthetically pleasing, while at the same time improving function and flow is a talent and skill. Function and flow I liken to a sturdy well built set of stairs. Muscle memory dictates a very stringent set of criteria for the rise and run of a staircase. If you build a staircase and just one of those vertical risers is off just a fraction of an inch from the rest. Then you are assuring that many trips and falls will be had for years to come. A well built set of stairs not only looks right, it feels right.

Good kitchen, bath, deck, addition, cabinetry design necessitates the same qualities. Good design will not only look fantastic. It will feel fantastic.

New Site

Out with the old and in with the new. I found some old buttons in one of my old project folders and used these as the start of this new 2007 skenandore.com website design. I liked that they look like slick shiny silly putty. As to the new "S" block. Uh, I confess that it was a happy accident, with gradients :) Kind of like, cake and frosting. I may do a post in the future on 10 different ways to have fun with gradients. Note the purpose of the page background..SKENANDORE SKENANDORE SKENANDORE. Well, after decades of skin-on-the-door, skinny dwarf, skenandork, etc. I decided to make sure that, after visiting this site, visitors will know how to spell S K E N A N D O R E. (just to be helpful) All in all I am very happy with this new design.

I hope you enjoy it too.

I'm not sure I will be that dedicated of a blogger and will probably only post something to this blog once a month or so.
So this is a site you will definitely want to visit infrequently.
